A 24-year-old woman who woke from a six-week coma in hospital to be told she was a mother, is having Christmas at home in Greater Manchester.

Lisa Allinson, of Darcy Lever near Bolton, fell unconscious after the birth in June when she had a stroke caused by the condition pre-eclampsia.初期子巔(孕婦痙攣)

She was taken to the Royal Preston Hospital in Lancashire from the Royal Bolton Hospital for brain surgery.

Mrs Allinson suffered memory loss and was unable to speak after the coma.

'Good recovery'

Surgeons at the Preston hospital had to remove half of her skull to operate and replaced it with a metal plate.

When she woke from her coma, Mrs Allinson was given the good news that she was a mother.

Her husband Andrew arranged for friends to visit to help get her memory back.

A spokesman for the Royal Preston Hospital said: "We're delighted she's making such a good recovery.

"It's always great to see a patient recovering and at home for Christmas."

The baby boy, who is called Benjamin, was born fit and well on 5 June.

Lisa had no recollection of the birth and was stunned when she eventually came round to see her new arrival.

After six months in hospital, she was celebrating being allowed home. Pharmacist Lisa, from Bolton, said: "It’s brilliant. I don’t remember much-and I don’t really want to."

Her husband Andy, 34, said: "The doctors and surgeons are scratching their heads - it’s a miracle."

Lisa Allinson, 34, was left fighting for her life after a rare pregnancy condition caused a massive stroke.

Shortly after giving birth to her first son, Benjamin, Mrs Allinson, a pharmacist, lost consciousness and was placed on a life-support machine.

Her husband Andy kept vigil by her bedside and doctors removed half her skull in an attempt to save her life.

Six weeks later Mrs Allinson stunned doctors by waking up. Paralysed and unable to speak, she was also suffering from memory loss and was shocked to be told she was a mother.

Yesterday, after six months in hospital, she was allowed home to celebrate Benjamin’s first Christmas. (Telegraph UK)
